Xbox Live to increase service fee
If you’re an XBL gold member, you received this email today. Starting November 1st, 1-month memberships increase from $7.99-$9.99, 3-month from $19.99-$24.99, and 12-month from $49.99-$59.99. This announcement is sure to catch people off-guard like it did with me, but gamers shouldn’t be too entirely surprised. With a few new content (ESPN, Hulu and Kinect-oriented, for example) launching in the fall, this move was bound to happen.
The good news is that you can renew your 1-year subscription at a discounted price of $40 through XBox.com before then. You can stash all of the prepaid cards you want. Also, if you’re a smart buyer, there are bound to be 1-year subs for sale through sites like Amazon.
Still, this probably won’t be a welcomed sight to most XBL Gold Members when they check their email.
